Yaletown Technology Group Announces Enhancements For Universal File Importer

Yaletown Technology Group Inc. (YTG, URL: www.yaletech.com), a leading provider of enterprise content compliance solutions, today announced the release of Universal File Importer (UFI) 5.1, the premier business process tool for managing file system documents with FileNet Corporation's Enterprise Content Management repositories. FileNet Corporation (Nasdaq: FILE) is the leading provider of enterprise content and business process management solutions. UFI 5.1 features several enhancements including support for additional FileNet repositories, dynamic record classification, and file system shortcuts.

Universal File Importer 5.1 provides automated, real-time management of large volumes of files, either by loading the content into FileNet or managing the content in place. Using UFI, organizations can easily gain control over unmanaged content in file systems and network drives, thus improving adherence to records management and compliance requirements.

The new version offers organizations more flexibility by providing an alternative to loading documents into their FileNet repositories. UFI 5.1 creates and loads proxy objects into FileNet Records Manager, where the objects are managed within a full records management lifecycle. The original source objects can then be kept in place on the network file share, where they can be locked down and secured but still be available for access by applications or users.

For organizations with multiple FileNet repository formats, UFI 5.1 also adds support for FileNet Image Services and Content Services, in addition to support already provided for FileNet Content Manager and Records Manager. UFI's existing flexible rules-based document loading and indexing now also permit FileNet properties – including Records Manager classification and multi-value properties – to be assigned dynamically to each document based upon metadata taken from the files themselves or accompanying metadata files. Post-processing options include the ability to delete, move or flag the source file, or replace it in the network file share with a Windows shortcut to the file imported into FileNet.

"UFI 5.1 has been released in response to our customers' rapidly evolving business needs with respect to managing content on their network drives," noted Adam Wilkins, vice president of business development at YTG. "The new features in UFI further improve the ease of use and flexibility of the product, providing organizations with the ability to more readily manage documents in file system locations to meet ongoing compliance and records management requirements."

Existing UFI customers on YTG's maintenance program can upgrade to version 5.1 at minimal cost.

UFI 5.1, a component of YTG's CONSPECT™ compliance solution, will be generally available in August 2005.
