WAUSAU Financial Systems Delivers New Receivables Technology To Arizona Public Service
WAUSAU Financial Systems, the industry leader in distributed payments and remittance processing solutions, announced recently that Arizona Public Service (APS), Arizona's largest electric utility, has selected WAUSAU as its receivables processor and will utilize WAUSAU's industry-leading ImageRPS application for receivables processing.
With the WAUSAU platform, APS has replaced a legacy remittance system in order to more efficiently process more than 1.1 million customer transactions in 11 of Arizona's 15 counties. APS expects to take advantage of reduced electronic clearing costs when utilizing WAUSAU's ImageRPS modules for Image Exchange, ACH conversion and best-cost routing. These modules allow an organization to create deposits based on the best cost for availability, depending on the time of deposit, the amount of the deposit and financial institution the check is drawn upon. APS will utilize an OPEX 150 IEM for primary capture and clearing with a new Unisys Quantum 200 for processing exception items. The organization will also use an OPEX 3690T for capturing Full Page Check & List documents and additional white mail items that enter the workflow.
"When selecting the ImageRPS application from WAUSAU we were looking for a solution that would offer enhanced exception item processing capabilities, optimize deposit availability, reduce banking fees, and provide the ability to leverage the technology to process non-payment transactions," said Lori Lewis, Manager of Transaction Processing for APS. "We looked at other utility companies that are utilizing ImageRPS and determined that the WAUSAU solution provides us with the desired features and functionality, including best-cost routing, Image Exchange and ACH conversion. Additionally, the WAUSAU solution's low unit cost supports our position for the operation to remain in-house, under our control rather than outsourcing to a third-party."
"WAUSAU is extremely excited about our new partnership with APS in providing the most technologically advanced receivables platform available on the market that offers superior solutions for exception item processing, best-cost routing technology and an overall cost reduction on a per item basis," said Mike Tallitsch, Vice President of Remittance Solutions for WAUSAU.
"ImageRPS will allow APS to streamline its remittance processing, embrace a new hardware and software footprint, take advantage of electronic clearing methods, which will help to eliminate paper and improve the environment, thus reinforcing their commitment to improve the local communities in which they serve," said Tallitsch.
Currently, WAUSAU's ImageRPS platform is live at over 45 utility sites throughout the United States, processing over 200 million annual transactions. WAUSAU's ImageRPS solution offers the most comprehensive receivable solution that is flexible and scalable for our customers, whether an organization receives recurring business or personal checks, full-or-partial remittance payments, or single check or full-page transactions. WAUSAU customers continue to dominate the industry in Accounts Receivable Conversion (ARC) and annually generate more than 30% of all ARC transactions on the ImageRPS platform.
