Case Study: Kaiser Permanente's Preventative Medicine Division Transitions To Paperless Storage

By Hershey Technologies

At Kaiser Permanente's San Diego Preventative Medicine clinic, the 10-page Health Appraisal Questionnaire (HAQ) is an important tool in providing high quality patient care. Since every patient who visits the clinic completes an HAQ, the department processes more than 500,000 pages of detailed medical history data each year.

Due to the high volume of data to be managed, Kaiser initially approached Hershey Technologies to help automate their medical data capture and analysis. The goal was to digitize patient data to populate a Microsoft SQL Server database and generate health-profile reports, which highlight the medically significant data from each questionnaire.
