White Paper: Three Telltale Signs You Have The Wrong Capture Solution By Rusty James, Daybreak ICS

The vast majority of today's document and data capture solutions were developed when centralized capture was the norm. The process went something like this—Documents were shipped to a central location where they were scanned on a high-volume production scanner, using complex capture software that required six months to deploy and could only be operated by a highly trained resource.

Today's remote workforces have driven the change to a distributed capture model. Paper and electronic content are captured in the field at the point of creation and delivered directly to the content repository with the appropriate metadata, resulting in huge efficiency gains, increased security, and automation of business processes. Office workers, rather than capture specialists, use and administer the tools in a distributed capture solution.

If the trend today is toward a distributed capture environment, then why do we continue to use solutions that were originally designed for centralized capture? Wouldn't it make more sense to deploy a solution specifically designed for distributed document and data capture?
