The Real ID Act: Inlite Research Provides Barcode Tools For Compliance With The Real ID Act
In anticipation of significant demand driven by the Real ID Act of 2005, Inlite Research, Inc. has announced the release of the ClearImage DL/ID Driver License and ID Card Reader, a Software Developers Kit (SDK) that is especially designed to deal with the requirements of reading barcodes on ID cards such as Driver Licenses, Military ID cards and other such documents.
Signed into law by President Bush on May 11th 2005, the Real ID Act mandates all states to issue machine readable Driver Licenses by 2008. The law also places minimum requirements on the data contents. ANSI/AAMVA standards are already in place to address these requirements, and the major manufacturers of driver license systems can already produce the barcodes.
Gene Manheim, President of Inlite Research says: "We expect that many providers of software solutions to Federal, State and Local Government will soon face demands for software that complies with the strict requirements of the Real ID Act. The market for such solutions has enormous potential. 45 states and Canadian Provinces already issue driver licenses with personal data encoded in barcodes and those states that have not yet done so will soon be able to comply."
Manheim continues: "Inlite Research developed the ClearImage DL/ID Driver License and ID Card Reader to help developers and integrators provide such solutions quickly and easily, not just for Driver Licenses, but also to read barcodes from other identity documents such as the Military ID cards or documents from other agencies or countries."
