Wiring Illuminator™ is a digital wiring data system tool that significantly reduces the time, effort and associated cost of troubleshooting complex wiring. Wiring Illuminator captures a wide variety of information from wiring diagrams and wiring repair manuals, and provides a single integrated source of wiring data displayed on a computer. Wiring Illuminator is currently supporting the troubleshooting needs of a number of major systems, including the United States Navy's F/A-18 C/D and E/F fighter aircraft and the U.K. Apache Longbow helicopter.
System Overview
Wiring Illuminator dynamically displays system wiring information to the wiring technician. Wiring information is stored in a database, retrieved as requested by the technician and filtered for application to the particular aircraft being worked. The data is then formatted and displayed in any combination of wiring diagram, pin listing and/or wire listing. The technician is presented only with information relevant to the job at hand and no longer has to sift through multi-page foldouts and interpret system configuration information. In addition, locator graphics, pin arrangement graphics, parts listing and drawing notes are only a click away.
Intelligent Graphics
Intelligent Graphics are interactive schematics or wiring diagrams that are created by mining information from static wiring diagrams to produce intelligent vector graphics linked to Wiring Illuminator's database. Circuit tracing is provided, such that selecting a wire or other component in the graphic causes its entire signal path to be visually highlighted. Active components, such as switches and circuit breakers, operate just like the physical components they represent. Selecting a wire or other component in the intelligent graphic also causes Wiring Illuminator to update its other data views to reflect the selection.
Interface With External Systems
Wiring Illuminator can be executed as a standalone application, or alternatively it can interface with other applications in the maintenance environment. For example, Wiring Illuminator has been integrated with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) such that wiring information is only a mouse click away while navigating through a Boeing Data Courier™ or Data Courier Web™ hosted IETM. Wiring Illuminator can also access a centralized maintenance management system to obtain configuration and optional equipment information about equipment that is being worked on.
System Requirements
Wiring Illuminator supports the Microsoft Windows 98, NT, 2000 and XP operating systems. Wiring Illuminator requires a relational database, and currently Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and Access, and Sybase databases are supported.
