Article: Security PCI Compliance

Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance is a set of security standards that were created by the major credit card companies (American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide, and Visa International) to protect their customers from increasing identity theft and security breaches. Any company that accepts, processes, or stores credit card information is required to comply with the PCI security standards.

Through daily operation, Agilence gathers all POS data from its customer's POS network, including credit card numbers, and stores this information in a relational database for future review and analysis. By virtue of this data collection, Agilence is responsible for adhering to and ensuring that its application fully complies with the security standards specified in the PCI Compliance document.

In order for a business to be considered PCI compliant, they must meet twelve requirements that are organized into six related groups. Each requirement is listed and then followed by what Agilence has done (if applicable) to ensure PCI Compliance.
