Online Service Adds Capability to Scan Documents from within Salesforce

Kofax (LSE:DCM), the world's largest information capture vendor, today announced it has become a certified AppExchange partner, making its Document Scan Server solution available on-demand on salesforce.com's AppExchange, the world's first online service for sharing on-demand business applications. Kofax® Document Scan Server for AppExchange lets sales professionals easily capture paper-based information by scanning documents directly into Salesforce, and then immediately available for test drive and deployment at www.salesforce.com/appexchange. Applications available via the AppExchange directory are built using Apex, the world's first on-demand platform.

Kofax Document Scan Server for AppExchange gives businesses the ability to digitally capture documents at the point of entry into their Salesforce applications without the need to install scanner drivers or other third-party products to retrieve images from a scanner. Business cards, invoices, contracts, project plans, marketing material – anything that helps manage business relationships – can now be scanned easily and effectively, then shared with individuals across the hall, the country or the oceans.

"We live in an on-demand world where information is needed now, not later," says Rob Klatell, chief executive officer of Kofax's parent company, DICOM Group. "By becoming a member of the AppExchange, we will bring salesforce.com customers the unique capabilities of Document Scan Server that will add to the utility and value of their Salesforce applications."

Kofax Document Scan Server for AppExchange has been designed to directly integrate with Salesforce. This means users do not have to learn a new interface and IT departments do not need to support a new desktop application. Settings for specific documents can be arranged as a profile to reduce complexity and provide error-free scans.

A Centralized Management Console allows IT administrators to discover, configure and manage scanners connected to the Document Scan Server device. This means users do not have to be concerned about maintaining scanner features or settings.

Further, with the Kofax Document Scan Server for AppExchange, IT standards and protocols will not be compromised when scanning documents. It affords simple, secure scanner connectivity that conforms to any corporate IT policy.

Apex and the AppExchange
Apex, the world's first on-demand platform, provides unprecedented ease of customization and integration enabling a whole new generation of on-demand applications that go beyond CRM. All Apex components and applications can be easily shared, exchanged and installed with a few simple clicks via salesforce.com's AppExchange directory, enabling all the innovation that Apex unleashes to benefit the entire on-demand community.

Kofax Document Scan Server for AppExchange is one of more than 400 applications that are now available on salesforce.com's AppExchange, the world's first on-demand application directory, found at www.salesforce.com/appexchange.

The Apex platform, formerly known as the AppExchange platform, is available today. As previously announced, the next release of the Apex platform is currently scheduled to be available in conjunction with the release of Winter 07, and the Apex programming language is currently scheduled to be available during the first half of 2007.
