Omtool Expands AccuRoute 2.2 With Additional Enhancements To Address Court e-Filing Requirements
Omtool, Ltd., one of the leading provider of document handling products and services, recently announced extensions to its AccuRoute product line to specifically address the e-filing requirements its legal vertical market customers face. Omtool began product extensions for e-filing over a year ago to help the legal industry more easily comply with court mandates and reduce the amount of time, resources and associated costs incurred by law firms when packaging and delivering documents required by the various court systems.
Nearly 200 law firms have adopted Omtool's AccuRoute as the document routing standard for capture and delivery of legal documents. e-Filing systems are now requiring specific document formats and file size limitations, and these specifications can vary from court to court presenting a challenge to law firms nationwide. In response, AccuRoute 2.2 now delivers the ability to convert any document (including those only available in paper) to a text-searchable PDF (or other required format), compress the document and merge it with corresponding documents for simultaneous delivery to the required court house and any additional recipients.
Although legal documents tend to be very large, the e-filing size limitation of many court systems is less than two megabytes. To accommodate these size restrictions and ease the process of document filing and delivery, Omtool has released enhancements to AccuRoute that will allow legal administrators to split files. Administrators have the option of basing the split on either page count or overall file size. When multiple documents are being delivered, they can be merged first and then split for final delivery allowing for a single, streamlined process for all documents.
"As e-filing becomes more pervasive in Canada, it is apparent to Torys that we and other Canada-based law firms, will need a solution that will provide the electronic document handling features required for filing properly with the courts. Since AccuRoute is already our enterprise solution for document routing, it is an obvious choice to extend the application to e-filing as well, "said Peter Lamb, Director of Information Services, Torys LLP.
"AccuRoute has become a critical document solution that is employed across our firm for the integration of paper into our document management systems," said Barry Steinberg, director IT, Young, Conaway, Stargatt & Taylor LLP. "We expect that AccuRoute will be able to provide us significant time savings when used for e-filing."
Omtool is demonstrating its new e-filing product extensions at the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas in booth No. 706. In addition, Omtool will also show a wide variety of integrations with critical legal document infrastructure systems such as cost recovery, document management systems, litigation support systems, records management systems as well as the embedded version of AccuRoute now available on "smart" multi-function printers (MFPs).
