Next-Generation Enterprise Content Management: An Open Source Approach

By Mike Vertal, President and CEO, Rivet Logic Corporation

Today's commercial enterprises and government agencies face significant challenges as they strive to manage thousands, and sometimes millions, of documents generated throughout the normal course of business operations while increasing end-user productivity and lowering IT costs.

Many organizations struggle to manage a wide array of business information—from Word documents, email messages and forms to Web pages, images and multimedia files. This information—critical to a smooth and efficiently functioning operation—requires an effective collaborative content management system that supports a rich array of content. If managed effectively, enterprise content can be leveraged to achieve operational excellence and increased revenue. If left unmanaged or poorly managed, the organization will never derive optimal value from it.
