Latest MessageGate Platform Enables Real-Time Email Risk Management
MessageGate, Inc., a leader in email controls for enterprise email risk management, recently announced MessageGate Activity Profile (MAP) 3.0, the company's latest email monitoring solution that allows enterprises to audit and profile email usage in real time. MAP 3.0 is accompanied by the release of MessageGate Version 5.0, the newest version of the company's enterprise email risk management platform.
MAP 3.0 mitigates enterprise email risk, enabling companies to audit email usage patterns in real time through a secure software application and easy-to-use web interface. No data ever leaves the enterprise. The solution uses pre-configured and custom email policies to analyze inbound, outbound and internal email. Email content and attachments are audited, along with sender and recipient profiles. The result creates a quick and inexpensive view of enterprise email traffic, showing IT departments what must be addressed down to the actual suspect email through fully clickable reports and graphs.
"Enterprises never consider doing business without insurance, yet they willingly leave themselves open to unnecessary risk by eliminating automated email management technologies," said Brian Babineau, senior analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). "MessageGate's MAP 3.0 is a great first step in assessing email risk within the organization. By rapidly determining where potential issues lie, companies can create the customized email controls necessary to provide insurance by enforcing corporate email policies and mitigating employee misuse and abuse."
Unlike previous versions where analysis is performed against stored data and off corporate premises, companies can now run cost-effective MAP audits in their live email stream, reporting on email use as it happens without requiring corporate email or data to leave the premises. IT departments receive instant intelligence on what email controls and policies are being triggered, when the misuse occurs, and by whom. Offending emails can then be easily accessed with a simple click for further review. This becomes increasingly important as enterprises seek to create the culture of compliance needed to satisfy regulatory mandates and email security policies.
"MAP 3.0 enables organizations to better manage the email controls process by first determining the problem, and then actively addressing security and archive policy management," said Norbert Orth, president and CEO of MessageGate. "As IT departments continue to face fluctuating budgets in a challenging environment, the availability of a web-based activity profile empowers them to efficiently and cost-effectively analyze email usage trends in real-time, streamlining the risk management process."
Following email analysis with MAP 3.0, IT departments can continue to bolster email security and archive controls to mitigate risk further and ensure all users comply with risk management policies with MessageGate Policy Enforcement Version 5.0. The latest version of the enterprise risk management platform now includes support for Microsoft Exchange 2007, enabling policy enforcement and deep inspection of emails and their attachments to enhance Transport Rules.
MessageGate Policy Enforcement Version 5.0 facilitates enterprise email risk management through active email controls, including the inspection of incoming, internal, and outbound email content and attachments. Policy Enforcement implements complex policy actions to proactively block, re-route or queue for review prior to the message being sent to ensure protection of intellectual property, meet compliance with government regulations, and monitor for employee misuse - all within the live email stream. MessageGate Policy Enforcement promotes proper email use through activity profiles, archive categorization, policy enforcement and user education, ultimately creating a culture of compliance.
In addition, Policy Enforcement Version 5.0 eases operational overhead associated with managing email archives and meeting e-discovery mandates. Real-time analysis applies consistent email archiving policies before messages enter the archive. Classifying and categorizing email before it enters the storage network significantly streamlines the archival and retrieval process. Messages can be partitioned by category, enhancing retrieval capabilities through policy-added metadata and reducing archiving costs through the elimination of non-business email.
