M-Files Cloud Vault Soars Into The Market As The First Document Management Solution Running Natively On Windows Azure Cloud Platform
Motive Systems, the developer of M-Files easy document management software and the cloud-based document management service M-Files Cloud Vault, has announced a new version of M-Files Cloud Vault that runs natively on the Windows Azure cloud platform. M-Files Cloud Vault is the first professional document management solution running on Azure, providing businesses an immediate opportunity to take advantage of Microsoft's highly scalable and reliable cloud-based operating system and geographically distributed data centers to rapidly deploy solutions in a variety of vertical markets. The Azure-based M-Files Cloud Vault will be showcased at Microsoft Dynamics Convergence 2011 at booth 1327 on April 10-13, 2011 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
The Windows Azure platform includes a cloud services operating system and a set of developer services hosted in Microsoft data centers that provide the functionality to build applications that span from consumer Web to enterprise scenarios. Azure reduces the need for up-front technology purchases and enables developers to quickly and easily create applications running in the cloud by using standard Microsoft development tools such as Visual Studio and the Microsoft .NET Framework.
M-Files is a professional document management system that enables companies and organizations of all sizes in a variety of industries and markets to make dramatic gains in efficiency and productivity by improving the way they organize, manage and track business documents and processes -- all without requiring employees to change the way they work. M-Files eliminates the need for chaotic Windows folders by organizing documents using simple tags and keywords. With M-Files, users store documents in a centralized vault, the same as they would on any other hard drive on the system or network, but rather than searching for the right folder, users simply save documents to the vault and tag. M-Files works like Windows Explorer, so the vault is accessed like My Documents, it's just faster and more secure. Finding files is as simple as typing in a tag or performing a full-text search right from the Open or Save dialog box of any Windows application. In effect, M-Files connects every application directly to the cloud.
"Windows Azure provides our customers and partners the ability to quickly implement new solutions that address a variety of critical business needs," said Dr. Petri I. Salonen, senior vice president of Microsoft Global Partnerships with Motive Systems. "With the power, flexibility and scalability of Windows Azure, our customers can quickly deploy custom document management solutions without large upfront costs, and our vertically-focused partners can create custom, industry-specific solutions based on the M-Files platform, including those with demanding regulatory compliance requirements. They can also get to market quickly while minimizing their investments in new product customization and integration."
The Azure platform provides numerous benefits to the M-Files Cloud Vault solution, including:
- Scalability – In terms of performance, Windows Azure provides M-Files with virtually unlimited scalability, no matter how much data is being stored. Azure enables scaling from very small implementations of only a few users to extremely large ones with thousands of users.
- Reliability – Instead of having just one big machine where all of a business's data resides, Azure enables allocation over a large number of distributed smaller systems. If one system gets overloaded or fails, the impact is minimized.
- Replication and geo-distribution – Replication and geo-distribution means there is more than one copy of a business's data, and it is distributed geographically. Having more than one copy in different locations insulates a business from the risk a server failure, power outage or natural disaster in a particular area.
- Storage – Azure not only provides flexibility in choosing the level of storage a business needs to minimize costs, but also for quickly scaling up when more storage is needed. The business pays only for what is used and it can be assured there will always be quick access to more space when it is needed.
- Data and application integration – M-Files is tightly integrated into the Microsoft core product stack and utilizes a rich set of Web services for both data and application integration. For instance, M-Files integrates with the Dynamics product family, synchronizing content between various applications, and also integrates with the Office family of products, as well as with SharePoint, vastly improving search capabilities for SharePoint users.
M-Files Cloud Vault running on Azure is offered as a service priced at $39 per month, per user. M-Files is also available as an on-premise software solution that can be purchased as a paid-up license. For more information, please contact Motive Systems directly at sales@m-files.com.
