Judson College Chooses Ektron For A Personalized, Interactive Web Site

Ektron Inc., an innovator in Web content management software, today announced Judson College, a Christian liberal arts college in Illinois, adopted Ektron CMS400.NET to manage all the information available through its new Web site. Leveraging CMS400.NET's extensive functionality and flexibility, the school transformed its website into its primary recruiting tool and one-stop, always up-to-date source of information and services for students, staff and the larger college community.

"The information in a college or university setting is so dynamic - there are constant changes, including updated calendars, new course schedules, news releases and more. We're a relatively small college, with a limited budget, but CMS400.NET allows us to stay up-to-the-minute and on the cutting edge of technology," said Philip Guth, vice president for Enrollment, Judson College. "This is a real advantage in a competitive market, especially when our website is the first point of contact for prospective students. I am confident that we are now able to make a great impression while actually saving time and money."

Since the Web has evolved into the number one place high school students and their parents look when considering colleges and universities, Judson College decided to revamp its online strategy and make a new site with a compelling design, simple navigation and always relevant content core to its overall marketing strategy. Pivotal to ensuring the new website could meet its goals was adopting a Web content management system that makes it easy for many people across campus to contribute and publish information and manage the site. The school wanted to eliminate the bottleneck created by having only one staffer managing the site and all its content.

Judson College chose CMS400.NET, Ektron's all-in-one platform for rapidly creating, deploying and managing interactive Web, intranet and extranet sites, to power its site and asked Trekk Cross-Media, an experienced Ektron partner, to complete the redesign.

The college's Web site - www.judsoncollege.edu - now has a fresh, attractive design and all aspects of the site are managed using the Ektron CMS400.NET system. A team of 10 contributors across campus creates and posts content relevant to their prospect groups, including traditional students, adult students, alumni, parents, media and supporters.

When the new site went live, Judson immediately saw positive increases in its site numbers. In addition, it replaced traditional recruiting techniques, such as printing and mailing costly brochures and catalogs to high school students, with auto-generated, division-specific catalogs on the Web. An advantage of the online catalog is it can be updated immediately by the Registrar's Office, without having to spend time or money on a print run.

"More than ever, colleges and universities are turning to the Web to deliver relevant information and interactive services to their key stakeholders: students and their families, faculty, staff, alumni and the higher education community," said David Aponovich, director of marketing, Ektron. "To be successful, they need to present a powerful vision and build stronger relationships and community online. Ektron CMS400.NET can be used to improve schools' Web initiatives and reach their online goals."
