Iron Mountain Launches E-Mail Continuity Service
Iron Mountain Incorporated, the world's trusted partner for records management and data protection services, today announced the availability of a new E-Mail Continuity service to help businesses ensure their most critical communication and productivity tool is always available. This new service is an extension of the Company's portfolio of data protection services that help businesses recover from disasters and other business disruptions.
E-mail has become the most pervasive form of business communication -- impacting every aspect of every organization. Unfortunately, no business, large or small, is immune from the risks that cause serious disruptions or total incapacitation of its e-mail systems. The cost of email downtime can be immense, impacting a company's ability to continue its normal business activities and recover quickly in a time of crisis. With the increasing dependence on electronic communications, the need for customers to have a secondary e-mail system that provides continuous access to e-mail is becoming an imperative.
"E-mail outages can cost companies millions of dollars in lost revenue and productivity," said John Clancy, executive vice president of Iron Mountain's Digital business unit. "With the increasing occurrence of email system failures, companies need to have an e-mail recovery and continuity strategy in place. The launch of Iron Mountain's E-mail Continuity service provides customers with an immediate and low cost solution to protect and keep available the most critical enterprise application -- emails, contacts and calendars and other vital business and personal data often stored within e-mail systems."
Iron Mountain's E-mail Continuity service, delivered via a partnership with MessageOne, is a highly scaleable standby e-mail system that guarantees continuous access to e-mail. The service provides simple and effective e-mail continuity in five key steps. Corporate e-mail is synchronized immediately with the hosted data center. When a customer's primary e-mail system becomes incapacitated, the e-mail continuity service is immediately activated. The service is activated via phone or web console within minutes. The service sends notification of activation to company employees by pager or secondary e-mail address. Employees will be able to access their e-mail from any web- based browser. Once the company's primary mail system has been restored, all e-mails that were sent or received during the emergency are seamlessly and automatically merged into the company's primary mail system.
The service is fully compatible with Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, and Novell Groupwise e-mail systems, as well as BlackBerry and other mobile devices.
Iron Mountain's E-mail Continuity service expands upon the Company's comprehensive data protection solutions, which include:
- Electronic Vaulting: Iron Mountain's award-winning software and managed online data backup and recovery services protect at-risk, distributed data stored on PCs and remote servers; they include market-leading Connected DataProtector/PC and Server Electronic Vaulting.
