Intelligent Capture And Exchange: Kofax Unveils Simplified Branding Architecture That Underscores Its Integrated Product Offering
Kofax, the information capture vendor, recently unveiled a simplified product branding that consolidates the company's diverse product portfolio into a consistent and unified architecture that is expected to yield more benefits and greater value to its customers and partners around the world.
"Our new product branding architecture brings a higher degree of clarity to everything we do for our partners and customers," said Rob Klatell, chief executive officer of Kofax's parent company, DICOM Group. "The first step of this process was the introduction of our Kofax Intelligent Capture & Exchange strategy late last year. Kofax Intelligent Capture & Exchange encompasses everything we offer; everything we are about as a company. It was born out of insight into the challenges our customers face across a range of paper- and transaction-intensive industries."
The company's offering includes information capture and business communications, all now contained within Kofax Intelligent Capture & Exchange. Motivated by a desire to optimize the value of those capabilities for its global network of partners and customers, the company's product branding anticipates emerging market demands and customer expectations. The results of a thorough analysis of market indicators and customer preferences show:
- The Kofax brand enjoys strong loyalty, based on reputation, market leadership and excellent products;
- There is a close association between internally developed Kofax-branded products and the company's acquired intelligent document recognition technologies and business communications lines;
- Customers believe integrated offerings that address transactional line-of-business solutions like procure-to-pay, sales order processing, account openings, loan and credit card processing solutions will deliver incremental value; and,
- There is heightened interest in extending traditional centralized back office batch capture to include distributed, transactional front office information capture solutions.
"Increasingly, companies are seeking a broad solution that can help them capture information from a much richer variety of sources—including both paper and electronic documents—and integrate that information into business-critical workflows," said Melissa Webster, program director at IDC. "It's the end-to-end solution that provides the real value—from capture and intelligent routing through notification and alerts. Kofax's streamlined product architecture and branding maps well to the solution footprint users are asking for."
According to Gartner, an independent industry research and advisory firm: "‘Information infrastructure' is emerging as a concept that describes the alignment of technologies and functional capabilities that support consistent and seamless enterprise information capture, persistence, transformation and delivery."1
The Kofax product branding initiative reflects the market trend toward consolidation of information capture enabling technologies along the capture, transformation and communication value chain. The combination of strategic product investments and a simplified product brand should further strengthen the company's leadership in the information capture market segment.
Kofax Intelligent Capture & Exchange serves as the foundation for the branding initiative. It takes in the company's diverse product portfolio and organizes it all under a simplified and modular brand architecture that removes the complexity of certain product names and replaces them with a logical descriptive structure."Capture" and "Exchange"serve as the pillars of the organizing model. The "Capture" element includes all products that enable customers to scan and process paper and electronic documents from multiple sources to intelligently extract, analyze and transform information captured from such documents and move them to a business application. The "Exchange" element includes all business communication technologies that provide a uniquely differentiated offering through a multi-channel-based notification, confirmation, and alerting system that result in significantly improved business relationships.
The new branding architecture also addresses the needs of market channels, including the certified re-seller, solution providers, independent software vendors (ISVs) and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as well as enterprise class customers.Kofax Intelligent Capture & Exchange will be configurable in three editions: Workgroup, Enterprise and Developer.
This gives customers flexibility in how they opt to license components of Kofax Intelligent Capture & Exchange. A customer may initially license capture functionality and then add additional scope such as exchange functionality.In addition, a customer may extend the reach of its solution from a departmental to an enterprise deployment.
