High-Resolution, Low Noise Lineup Of VIS-SWIR Cameras: Owl 640 Series

owl series

The Owl 640 Series from Raptor Photonics comprises a number of VIS-SWIR cameras with high resolutions and low noise readouts. They are ideal for a variety of applications, including surveillance, astronomy, beam profiling, hyperspectral imaging, solar cell inspection, and other scientific applications.

Owl 640 II

The Owl 640 II is the next generation of the Owl 640. The rugged, high sensitivity digital VIS-SWIR camera is even more compact and lightweight than before. Using a 640 x 512 InGaAs sensor from SCD, the camera enables high sensitivity imaging from 0.4 µm to 1.7 µm. With less than 50 electrons readout noise (rms), the Owl 640 II enables a high VIS-SWIR detection limit.

Owl 640 M

The Owl 640 M model offers a low compact, low power and cost-effective solution to the Owl 640 series. The camera is a TEC-less version of the successful Owl 640, meaning it offers the lowest power consumption of any Owl 640 variant (<2.5 W). This SWaP (Size, weight and power) design is perfect for integration into small OEM and machine vision scientific platforms.

Owl 640 N

Using a 640 x 512 InGaAs sensor, and the sensor stabilized to 15°C, the Owl 640 N offers a visible response from 0.4 µm to 1.7 µm to enable a high sensitivity. The camera also offers the lowest readout noise on the market with a typical value of 18 electrons. The camera has a high intra-scene dynamic range of typically 73 dB, enabling simultaneous capture of bright and dark portions of a scene.

Owl 640 S

The Owl 640 S is a model of the Owl 640 lineup that offers faster frame rates (up to 300Hz) than the standard Owl 640. Using a different sensor, the camera has a response in the SWIR region, 0.9 µm to 1.7 µm. The camera has a readout noise (rms) reading of 30 electrons, enabling a high intra-scene dynamic range for simultaneous capture of bright and dark portions of a scene.

Owl 640 T

The Owl 640 T is the the world’s first SWaP optimised ½” / VGA sensor with a 10 µm x 10 µm pixel pitch. The Owl 640 T offers a spectral response from 0.4 µm to 1.7 µm and has less than 50 electrons readout noise, with a high intra-scene dynamic range of 69 dB that enables simultaneous capture of bright and dark portions of a scene. Available with a 12 bit Camera Link output, the Owl 640 T runs from 10 to 60 Hz.

Owl 640 A

The Owl 640 A is a rugged, high sensitivity VIS-SWIR camera model of the Owl 640 series that offers an analog output. Using a 640 x 512 InGaAs sensor from SCD, the Owl 640 A enables high sensitivity imaging from 0.4 µm to 1.7 µm. With less than 50 electrons readout noise and a peak quantum efficiency >90%, the camera enables high detection in the VIS-SWIR spectrum.
