High-Performance Polishing Films For Fiber Optic And Photonic Processing

14 - Polishing Films for Precision Optical & Photonic Processing

Polishing and lapping films for connectors, bare fiber, waveguides, and PICs, including diamond, silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, and final polish films in 2”, 4”, and 5”.

Precision results in fiber optic termination depend heavily on the quality and consistency of the polishing media used during each processing stage. KrellTech’s Polishing Films are available in a variety of abrasive materials to suit specific application requirements, including diamond for aggressive material removal and fine polishing, and silicon carbide for versatile finishing of fiber optic, waveguide, and PIC components. For specialized applications, our flock films provide controlled fiber protrusions for multifiber connectors like MTP and MPO, while silicon dioxide final polish films ensure ultra-smooth surfaces.

These films are offered in standard 2, 4, and 5-inch diameters with grit sizes ranging from 30 microns down to 0.02 microns. Depending on the material and equipment configuration, films can be provided in PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive), non-PSA, and flock versions to ensure process continuity and repeatable results. By utilizing these high-quality consumables, laboratories and production facilities can ensure consistent film quality for repeatable polishing results across all industry-standard optical components.
