Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced that Hyland Software, Inc., developer of the OnBase enterprise content management (ECM) software suite, has officially tested the new Fujitsu fi-5900C, fi-5120C and fi-5220C document scanners. After running an extensive assessment, including testing the scanners with TWAIN, ISIS, and Kofax drivers, Hyland verified the products meet and exceed all requirements to run properly in an OnBase production environment, including use with the latest version of its ECM software suite, OnBase 5.0.

"Hyland is excited that valued industry partners such as Fujitsu continue to provide quality document scanner options for our customers and resellers," said George Angelato, vice president of quality assurance, Hyland Software Inc. "Customers want seamless integration between document imaging solutions and ECM applications to provide comprehensive content management capabilities and simplify management. Working closely with Fujitsu allows us to quickly optimize and maximize our installations for our joint customers."

OnBase is an integrated suite of ECM software solutions built upon a central content repository. Customers from small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) to the world's largest enterprises use OnBase to drive down the cost and time it takes to complete business processes, reduce their susceptibility to risk, and comply with government regulations. Leveraging a single and secure content repository that can scale to manage billions of content objects, OnBase provides a modular suite of ECM applications including production document imaging, document management, COLD/ERM, business process management, and records management. These applications are used to capture, process, distribute, and manage the lifecycle of the content that drives core operations like accounts payable, claims processing, loan approval, medical billing, and compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley.

"Fujitsu is extremely pleased that Hyland has tested and certified these new scanners with its software suite," said Kevin Neal, product manager, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "To transform the traditional way of doing business via paper-based documents to a more ECM-focused model with electronic images involves many hardware and software considerations. When document imaging scanners and application software have been tested and certified it ensures a higher level of integration and quicker implementation. It truly allows companies to enjoy a nearly immediate return on investment while benefiting from the optimized technology."

The Fujitsu fi-5900C scanner offers best-of-breed technology and has been tailored specifically for high volume applications. A combination of fast scan speeds, outstanding paper handling, high-speed USB 2.0, Ultra Wide SCSI, Kofax VRS hardware, and three Ultrasonic double feed sensors make this the ideal scanner to quickly and efficiently transform piles of paperwork into usable electronic data. The scanner is well suited for demanding environments such as service bureaus, backfile conversions or many other paper-intensive industries by delivering a daily duty cycle of up to 100,000 sheets and consumable life of up to 600,000 sheets.

The Fujitsu fi-5120C and Fujitsu fi-5220C (flatbed model) color, duplex workgroup scanners build on the strengths of the Fujitsu fi-4120C2 and fi-4220C2, two of the best-selling workgroup scanners on the market. The introduction of ultrasonic double feed detection on these scanners ensures all documents in a batch are properly scanned by automatically detecting when two pages are simultaneously fed through the scanner. Additionally, embossed card scanning allows easy information capture of credit cards and other raised letter plastic identification through the automatic document feeder. Best in class speed of 24 pages per minute (ppm) / 45 images per minute (ipm) at 300 dpi monochrome and grayscale, and 24 ppm / 24 ipm at 300 dpi full color allow users to quickly create searchable PDFs. The Fujitsu fi-5120C and fi-5220C, due to their fast scanning speeds and embossed card functionality, are particularity apt to address needs of the healthcare, financial services/banking and retail industries.
