eCopy Document Imaging Software Now Available For Xerox MFPs Through Global Imaging Systems
eCopy Inc., a leading provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into business software applications, recently announced the U.S. availability of eCopy ShareScan software for Xerox Corporation multifunction printers (MFPs) sold through Global Imaging Systems. Global Imaging, a wholly owned subsidiary of Xerox, sells and services document management devices, such as MFPs and printers, through its nationwide network of office equipment dealers.
With the agreement, Global Imaging customers can now purchase eCopy document imaging software for use with Xerox MFPs to help convert paper-based information into digital documents and then securely incorporate those documents into their business software systems.
This addition strengthens eCopy's leadership position in the MFP document imaging software market. The company's software now works with the seven leading MFP brands, representing more than 75 percent of laser MFPs shipped in the U.S. market. eCopy provides a standard MFP document scanning operating platform across brands, so office workers can use the same procedures at any of their networked MFPs.
"Our customers are quite familiar with the ease of use and security features that eCopy software provides," said Paul Schulman, senior vice president of operations at Global Imaging Systems. "With this introduction, our Xerox MFP customers will now have immediate access to eCopy's extensive portfolio of business software Connectors and be able to scan documents directly to their applications."
eCopy's Connector portfolio provides integration to more than 85 business software applications, including EMC Documentum Content Server, Captaris RightFax, FileNet, Interwoven Worksite, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Outlook/Exchange. Independent software vendors (ISVs) and corporate developers can add their applications to the list of software that supports eCopy scanning simply by developing a Connector to the eCopy platform. This enables their users to scan documents directly to their software using any eCopy-supported MFP.
ShareScan, which won this year's "Best MFP Workflow Software Solution" award from market researcher BERTL, is available through Global Imaging Systems dealers for Xerox MFPs in conjunction with eCopy ScanStation, an ergonomic touch-screen and keyboard that attach easily to Xerox MFPs.
ScanStation ships with a 10-user license of eCopy Desktop, PC software that enables office workers to easily and efficiently capture, edit, share, and store scanned documents in PDF form. Through an easy to use interface, eCopy Desktop offers advanced editing tools that include the ability to combine documents from both paper and electronic sources.
To safeguard information, ShareScan provides document audit trail capabilities, logging which documents were scanned, who scanned them, when they were scanned and to whom they were distributed. eCopy supports the use of Common Access Cards (CACs) with which users identify themselves when they log in at the MFP ensuring secure access to only authorized users.
"Supporting the Xerox platform adds a key component to our document imaging ecosystem," said Vickie Malis, eCopy vice president of Marketing. "eCopy's emergence as the standard in the industry is helping all the major constituents grow and be more successful. MFP manufacturers can leverage the eCopy platform to differentiate their devices through direct connectivity to business software applications. ISVs can use eCopy as a single point of connectivity to capture paper documents through MFPs. End Users are able to maximize the value of their MFP though ease of use, enhanced workflow and improved document security."
