eCopy Announces Best Practices Award Winners
eCopy, Inc., a leading provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into enterprise software applications, today announced the winners of the eCopy Customer Best Practices awards. The selected customers demonstrated innovation in using office copiers to capture paper-based information into electronic business processes to achieve outstanding business productivity and return on technology investments.
The winners were selected from organizations worldwide that have deployed eCopy document imaging and distribution software. They were recognized at the eCopy Paper Connection Forum, an industry conference that has brought together multifunction peripherals (MFP) manufacturers, software vendors, office equipment dealers and other industry experts to collaborate on creating innovative solutions for paper document processing.
"This year's award winners collectively represent the best in paper to digital workflows," said Vickie Malis, vice president of Marketing at eCopy. "They recognize document capture software is a strategic component of an enterprise content management strategy as organizations improve business processes for strategic advantage. We salute all the organizations for their best practices leadership."
The winners of the 2006 Best Practices Awards for Document Capture Solutions are:
Enterprise Wide Deployment
Schneider Electric's North American Operating Division, a manufacturer of electrical distribution and industrial control products, systems and services, headquartered in Palatine, Ill., uses eCopy ShareScan OP software across 150 copiers to manage engineering projects involving multiple offices and serving 2,500 users. The eCopy software is integrated with PTC Windchill and PTC ProjectLink applications. It has dramatically improved efficiency, reducing administrative tasks while allowing project managers more time to solve engineering challenges.
Construction
Miron Construction, one of the largest construction companies in the U.S. Midwest and headquartered in Neenah, Wisc., uses eCopy software as part of its online project management Web site, where the company shares documents, such as permits and design iterations, with building owners and architects during the construction process. By bringing paper documents online, Miron can better track project status and has greater visibility into costs, resulting in more timely cost estimates.
Government
Oklahoma City Police Department serves one of the largest geographical sized cities in America. It uses eCopy ShareScan OP and eCopy Desktop software to manage vast volumes of paper documents throughout the Department. For example, the Department uses eCopy to facilitate the review and authorization of employee medical records. To ensure compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Department uses eCopy Desktop to electronically redact employee names and other information on invoices, which are ultimately made part of the public record.
Insurance
Lexington Insurance Company, one of the world's leading property and casualty insurance organizations and a member company of AIG, has deployed eCopy software running inside the firm's copiers in its United Kingdom operations. The company scans documents to its document management system for policy and claims administration. The scan and mail capabilities of eCopy have enabled Lexington to reduce its time-consuming document handling processes, greatly decreasing fax and mail costs.
Legal
Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP is a law firm headquartered in San Francisco, Calif. that specializes in patent and trademark law. These specialties have strict submission deadlines with penalties for failure to meet the deadlines, making effective document management a requirement. The firm has deployed eCopy software on office copiers in all six of its offices. It also uses eCopy Connector software that enables direct integration between copiers and the firm's Interwoven content management software, making it fast and easy to scan documents into Interwoven WorkSite.
Transportation
Estes Express Lines, a $1 billion transportation company headquartered in Richmond, Va., has implemented eCopy ScanStation OP software on office copiers in over 80 regional terminals to manage documentation for less-than-truckload shipments. The solution manages bills of lading and delivery receipts, and makes them available to customers via a Web portal. It has increased worker productivity and reduced billing cycles.
Quick Connect Deployment
Chapman & Cutler LLP, a law firm headquartered in Chicago, Ill., has leveraged the eCopy Quick Connect capabilities of eCopy with the firm's document management application. eCopy Quick Connect automates the workflow process for scanned documents by easily integrating them into the firm's document management system. With this capability, Chapman & Cutler was able to implement a distributed document capture strategy, enabling any office worker to instantly index and save paper-based information to digital document workflows.
