SpringCM, one of the leader in on-demand content management solutions, today announced its board has appointed Dan Carmel as the SpringCM chief executive officer. Previously serving as an advisor and board member at SpringCM, Carmel brings more than twenty years of proven executive leadership experience to the company.

"SpringCM's proven on-demand technology, combined with the industry thought-leadership of the company's founders, present a tremendous opportunity for rapid growth," said Bill Elmore general partner and founder of Foundation Capital, and SpringCM board member. "Dan Carmel's strategic vision and proven operational skills have continually helped organizations turn technology innovation into market leadership. The market is primed and ready for solid SaaS solutions, and we believe Dan is just the right individual to lead SpringCM to market leadership in ECM on-demand."

Prior to joining SpringCM, Carmel served as president and CEO of Itemfield, an innovative data transformation vendor that was later acquired by Informatica. Previously, he served as an integral part of the senior management team at iManage, helping establish it as a leader in the document management market, and the fastest-growing publicly traded ECM company in the challenging 2001-2003 market. Following the merger of iManage with Interwoven in 2003 (which saw them grow into one of the 50 largest software companies in the world), Carmel served as vice president and general manager of the $60M legal and professional services division.

During Carmel's career he has been instrumental in guiding new or emerging ventures to become market leaders's first as one of the first 5 employees at The Vantive Corporation, a leader in CRM that was later acquired by Peoplesoft, and then as a key member of the executive team at Selectica, which during Carmel¹s tenure, saw explosive growth and was one of the top IPOs of the year in 2000. Carmel holds a BS and MS in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Stanford University.

"Dan's extensive experience in ECM, and his proven success at building successful companies, coupled with his passion for the customer and focus on quality make him a great choice to take SpringCM to the next level," said Christine Mason, SpringCM founder and board member. "Over the last year, it has been a privilege to see how Dan, first as an advisor and then as a board member, has jumped in to help build our business. As he takes the reins as CEO, we are thrilled to welcome him aboard."
