Content Management: Datacap Releases Taskmaster 7

<%=company1%>

Datacap Inc. is announcing recently the release of Taskmaster 7, a major upgrade of its award-winning capture and forms processing software. Taskmaster 7 introduces many new elements that demonstrate Datacap's commitment to providing customers the most complete, flexible, easy-to-use capture solution through innovation and integration of best-of-breed technologies, including Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and .NET.

This major upgrade of Taskmaster extends Datacap's lead in providing end-users the widest array of capture capabilities from which to choose. This freedom of choice results in an optimal solution to meet end-user business needs.

Taskmaster 7 adds support for a number of best-of-breed technologies that expand and simplify capture for end-users. These include Parascript, natural handwriting recognition, One Touch scanning from Visioneer, enabling scan and capture with the push of a button, additional OCR recognition from ABBYY, and Word fire Classify automatic document identification based on patented technology from Content Analyst Company. All of these capabilities are easily configured and managed with Datacap Rules.

Datacap Rules Now SOA-compliant

Taskmaster leads the industry in meeting end-user requirements for adaptability through the flexibility provided in Datacap Rules. Core capture functions in Taskmaster are managed by procedural rules - image processing, recognition, as well as finding, validating, and releasing data. Taskmaster 7 now includes an intuitive rules management interface, called Datacap Studio, for non-programmers to configure and test capture applications. End users can assemble and test new applications before rolling them into production, saving time and testing expense. Datacap Rules enable organizations to quickly and cost-effectively implement robust forms processing and indexing solutions without expensive programming. Then when documents, regulations or business requirements change, Taskmaster users quickly adapt by changing rules via Datacap Studio.

Taskmaster 7 embraces Services Oriented Architecture (SOA). Rulerunner Service, a rules-driven Web Service a single service from which any core capture function can be called. Users simply configure the capture functions they require with Datacap Studio. The result is an SOA capture strategy that can be implemented by a business analyst.

Rulerunner Service supports Datacap Taskmaster and other capture platforms as well. Users of Kofax Ascent Capture or FileNet Capture can take full advantage of capabilities available in Rulerunner Service, including new recognition engines, validation by reusable rule, or Word fire's automatic document classification, but without having to replace their capture software investment. They simply use Rulerunner Service to call the added functionality.

Microsoft .NET Support

Taskmaster Web, included with Taskmaster 7, is a completely new version of Datacap's trail-blazing browser-based capture software, implemented as an ASP.NET application. All popular browsers, including Firefox, Opera, and others are now supported for monitoring capture workflows. The Browser user interface can easily be customized with the Datacap Panel Designer.

Invoice Processing Further Simplified

For customers processing invoices and other accounts payable documents, Taskmaster 7 includes Dynamic Natural Analysis (DNA) specifically developed to simplify highly-variable document capture. DNA eliminates invoice set-up and enables single-pass verification for both known and unknown invoice layouts.

This speeds implementation and reduces ongoing maintenance. All detail line items for a new invoice layout can be captured and their location stored after the user has identified the first line item, further streamlining the set-up process.

Simplified Pricing

Simultaneously with the availability of Taskmaster 7, Datacap has further extended its lead in simplified pricing. In addition to Datacap's long leadership in fair end-user pricing, with a concurrent licensing model with no dongles and per-scan charges, Datacap is now offering a single client license.

End users and channel partners will have greater flexibility without having to commit to a specific number of scanners, verifiers, etc.

"With Taskmaster 7, Datacap takes another step towards creating a true capture portal for demanding users who have very specific requirements," said Scott Blau, Datacap CEO. "Now we are offering more capture functionality than ever to give customers the freedom to choose what they want, when they want it without being locked into a particular solution. The web service rules implementation provides a platform that can be accessed from any capture system and that truly changes the rules!"
