Canon's New DR-1210C Scanning Solution Brings Document Imaging In Reach For Businesses Of All Sizes

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leading provider of digital imaging solutions, today unveiled its new digital scanning solution for workgroup document imaging and general office applications — the new DR-1210C — the latest model from the company's award-winning DR-Scanner line.

The Canon DR-1210C incorporates the reliability and advanced image processing capabilities inherent in Canon's DR-Scanner line to provide high-end functionality at an entry-level price. Ideal for distributed imaging and general office workloads, the DR-1210C scanner's user-friendly and durable design make it an attractive desktop scanning solution for most small workgroups and home offices.

The DR-1210C scanner offers customers the ability to:

  • Store and retrieve documents faster through searchable PDF creation for keyword searching;
  • Easily share and distribute information with one-touch button functionality;
  • Convert and organize contact information with business card scanning;
  • Secure sensitive documents by creating encrypted and password protected PDF files; and
  • Automate file name creation through OCR capabilities for simplified indexing.

Built for versatility, the DR-1210C comes equipped with both a 35-page Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) and platen glass Flatbed to accommodate a range of imaging needs for the general office market. Performing efficient light-batch processes, the device will scan letter-sized documents at up to 12 pages-per-minute (ppm) in both color and monochrome at resolutions up to 300 dpi for crisp, clear digital document images. Bundled with a wide array of software, the DR-1210C comes with Canon's CapturePerfect 3.0, Presto! BizCard Reader 5, Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard and Nuance OmniPage SE 4, making it a remarkable value for small and home offices or entry-level document imaging applications.

The new DR-1210C scanner helps optimize document management and archival workflows, and ultimately assists in streamlining business processes with a unique combination of hardware and software capabilities.

Ease of Use
The DR-1210C features an intuitively designed control panel to quickly navigate through job functions and increase workflow efficiency. Users can easily initiate scan operations with three dedicated JOB buttons for Scan-to-Print, Scan-to-File, and Scan-to-E-mail, as well as five programmable JOB buttons for assigning up to 50 imaging functions. The JOB buttons enable use by multiple users within a workgroup to access frequently performed tasks at the touch of a button, providing for greater office efficiency. Complete with an Easy Installer tool and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connection, the DR-1210C scanner promotes fast, simple installation and helps ensure that all necessary software and drivers are properly installed.

Superior Image Quality and Processing
Capturing remarkable color images, the DR-1210C features a 600 dpi optical resolution and employs Canon's cutting-edge 3-Dimensional Color Correction technology to more accurately interpret RGB color data. With a multitude of advanced features designed to optimize electronic document creation, the DR-1210C provides various image processing capabilities, such as Advanced Text Enhancement, Auto Page Size Detection, Deskew, and Text Orientation Recognition The DR-1210C has achieved exceptional reliability, with a leading 100,000 ADF durability for its class. The scanner has a one-year limited warranty with an optional two-year extended warranty through Canon CarePAK Advanced Exchange program. The U.S. suggested retail price of the DR-1210C is $449, and will begin shipping April 3, 2006. The device will be available through authorized Canon U.S.A. imaging dealers and resellers.
