Case Study: Atlas Copco Creates A Showcase Global Web Content Management System With SDL
By SDL PLC
Atlas Copco has enjoyed a long and illustrious relationship with SDL. Five years ago, the Technical Documentation department of the Compressor Technique Business area deployed a comprehensive translation memory solution to support the localization of technical publications. The solution quickly overcame the previous problems associated with lengthy localization timelines, a lack of control over the translation process and high authoring costs. Using SDL Translation Memory and SDL Consultancy expertise, Atlas Copco was able to shorten the time for the review process by 60%, enhance the efficiency and control over the end-to-end localization process-and ultimately help bring solutions to market 50% more quickly.
Olivia Gambin, Web communications Manager, at Atlas Copco was a cornerstone of this success and she was recently tasked with managing the Group's global web content that is used on more than 150 local sites. "We found that if we published generic Atlas Copco content in seven languages, we could communicate locally with up to 80% of the total visitors to our sites," she explains. "One of our first steps was to implement a Global Web Content Management solution. We have been very pleased with the products, support and service we have received from SDL during the last five years. SDL engaged in a continuous dialogue with us to look at means of updating and enhancing their solutions-a vision that Atlas Copco happily shares."
