Alfresco To Host Community Conference In Washington DC

LONDON, Oct 01, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Alfresco Software today announced that it will host its North American Community Conference in Washington DC on October 9th, 2008. The Alfresco Community Conference is a one day event designed to promote the exchange of information, ideas, product design and development plans between Alfresco's valued community members and its Product Development team. The conference will also give attendees the opportunity to see demonstrations of Alfresco Labs 3, Microsoft(R) SharePoint(TM)Protocol support, Alfresco Share and the recently developed Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) draft implementation.

The North American Community Conference will include sessions on the recently announced Alfresco Labs 3, the first open source fully-compatible SharePoint repository. By supporting the SharePoint Protocol in Labs 3, Alfresco users can leverage existing investments in Linux and Java to significantly reduce their SharePoint total cost of ownership and maximize their hardware and software investments. In addition, attendees will also be able to see demonstrations of Alfresco Share, a new social computing application that uses the Alfresco Surf platform.

The conference will feature both Technical and Business tracks, the latter comprising a range of customer-led presentations from organizations including the Small Business Association (SBA) and Clinical Research Information Exchange (CRIX). The event will also include an Alfresco executive panel where customers and developers can discuss product roadmap reviews, prioritization, and design. Throughout the event, a partner expo area will be open for attendees to speak with Alfresco Certified Partners and learn more about their solutions. Exhibiting partners include Acquity Group, Carahsoft, Cignex, Ingres, Optaros, Rivet Logic, and Rothbury Software.

"We have chosen to host the Alfresco Community Conference in Washington DC in response to strong demand from federal government for open source software. Over the past few years, both government and other vertical sectors have become strong adopters of open source software," said John Powell, CEO of Alfresco. "As a result, government customers understand first hand the cost saving that open source software and open source content management can provide. This conference will offer a chance for our community members to see first hand how Alfresco can help them manage their growing content needs and extend the value of their existing investments in Linux, Microsoft and Java."

The event is free to attend, but space is limited so please register early to avoid disappointment. For further information and to register, please click here.
