LEADTOOLS is a collection of SDKs (software development toolkits) designed to enable programmers to quickly and easily integrate digital imaging technology into applications.
The LEADTOOLS OCR modules are multi-threaded for both 32 and 64 bit platforms. The new .NET architecture is intuitive and simplifies development, practically eliminating any learning curve, and making rapid OCR application development a reality.
An important feature of the new OCR design is the support of multiple OCR engines. The ability to choose the right engine for a specific solution gives unprecedented flexibility to the developer. To reduce complexity and overall development time, the new design hides the underlying engine details from the programmer through the use of a common .NET class library. Changing underlying OCR engines based on the requirements of the project requires virtually no change to the developer's application code.
Additionally, the all new Forms Recognition module adds functionality to automatically classify various documents to predefined master forms. When used in conjunction with the new LEADTOOLS OCR modules, specialized forms processing features are available to extract fields from the form making LEADTOOLS a complete form recognition and processing SDK.
LEAD Technologies has made further enhancements to the LEADTOOLS Document Imaging product including a new AutoBinarize function to convert color or grayscale images to 1 bit bi-tonal images, while preserving important aspects of the image such as text. Additionally, a new Deskew algorithm has been introduced that is specifically tailored to images with text. With these new functions added to the existing document image cleanup functions, LEADTOOLS Document Imaging is capable of preprocessing any image for improved OCR and Forms Processing results.
