U.S. Olympian And Cancer Survivor Eric Shanteau To Address Attendees At Kofax's Transform 2008
BASINGSTOKE, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Kofax plc (LSE:KFX), the leading provider of Intelligent Capture & Exchange solutions, today announced that U.S. Olympian Eric Shanteau will provide a keynote speech at the company's Transform 2008 event on October 7 in Austin, Texas. The annual conference brings Kofax partners and users together to learn about new products, solutions and strategies, share best practices and network with one another and Kofax executives.
The 24-year-old athlete learned he had cancer in June of this year, just before he was scheduled to attend the U.S. Olympic trials. Shanteau was cleared to compete at the meet and qualified for his first Olympics by defeating former world record-holder Brendan Hansen in the 200-meter breaststroke. He was faced with the difficult choice to either have immediate surgery and give up on competing in Beijing, or put off treatment until after the Olympics and risk the cancer spreading in the month before the Games.
He chose to compete and successfully attended the Olympics. His willingness to go public with the illness made him a rallying point for cancer victims around the world. Since returning from Beijing, he has had successful surgery and will continue swimming competitively.
