ECM Connection Announces The Industry ACE Awards At AIIM

Written by Brian Sherman

(Philadelphia)--- One of the highlights of my time at the AIIM Expo last week was presenting the first ECM Industry ACE Awards to several deserving companies. While I supplied only one of the five votes that determined the winners, I had the special honor of handing the teardrop trophies to the five winners' representatives. Who says being an editor has no rewards? The ACE awards were presented May 18, 2005 before a packed audience in the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The awards were given in five categories, including both software and hardware classes. The ECM Industry ACE is not merely a new product or service honor, it also embodies three distinct areas of a vendor's ECM offering. The "A" in ACE stands for the appeal the company's products present to the end users, resellers, or vendor partners. The "C" represents the content of the vendor's Web site, including information available on the portal and the benefits that visitors derive from it. "E" symbolizes the education programs the company provides to those that sell or purchase their products and services. The winners of each category were judged on these criteria and deemed to be the best representatives for 2005. Just being nominated for the award truly is an honor, especially when you consider the multiple areas in which each vendor was measured.
The ACE awards were presented to the following vendors, by category:
ECM Software Vendors – Enterprise-Class Solutions
Open Text Corporation
ECM Software Vendors – SME (small-to-medium enterprise) Solutions
Hyland Software, Inc.
ECM Software Vendors – Capture Solutions
Kofax
High-Volume Scanning Hardware Vendors
Imaging Business Machines, LLC
Low-Volume to Mid-Volume Scanning Hardware Vendors
Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc.
The ECM Connection staff would like to thank the judging panel, which included Ken Congdon, ECM technology editor for Integrated Solutions magazine; Ralph Gammon, editor of the Document Imaging Report; and Dave Wood, analyst with the Harvey Spencer Group. I would also like to thank those of you that registered online ballots, which collectively counted as one vote.
