Document Management: Kofax Ascent Fax Makes Fax Documents More Reliable And Manageable

<%company1%>

Kofax, the information capture vendor, recently announced Ascent Fax, a new software product that is designed to automate and facilitate the reliable transport of fax documents from Captaris RightFax and fax servers from TOPCALL directly into Kofax Ascent Capture to protect organizations from the common loss of fax documents between the point of capture and the extraction process.

"Organizations of all sizes still rely heavily on fax servers as a secure channel for sending and receiving business-critical information," said Rob Klatell, chief executive officer of Kofax's parent company, DICOM Group. "With the increasingly frequent imposition of stringent industry-specific compliance requirements, it has become crucial for inbound fax communications to be traceable in order to ensure accountability and the integrity of the data received. With Ascent Fax, we offer organizations precisely that peace of mind."

Tight Integration Provides Ease of Use and Administration

Ascent Fax is tightly integrated with Ascent Capture to help automate business processes and ensure that content extracted from fax documents is delivered directly into an organization's business applications and databases. With Ascent Fax, organizations using Ascent Capture can treat fax servers just like a scanner or a multifunctional peripheral: a source of incoming digitized documents. Organizations can process faxes using the same business rules applied to scanned paper documents, as well as e-mail and other electronic documents. Information captured from faxes can be stored in an archive, or sent to an Enterprise Resource Planning or Customer Relationship Management database for additional processing.

In addition, Ascent Fax is seamlessly integrated into Ascent administration, providing users with a single interface for simplified management and administration. A Web Services based connection between the fax server and Ascent Capture ensures that organizations never face barriers when deploying a fax workflow – even through a firewall. Organizations can also further automate fax workflows by leveraging metadata from incoming fax documents. For example, a sender's fax number, subscriber identification or timestamp can be mapped directly to index fields in Ascent Capture. As a result, fax-related data can automatically be directed to different batch classes.

While Ascent Fax is designed to adapt to organizations in all lines of business, the software product is uniquely positioned to address the challenges facing organizations in transaction intensive industries such as including banking and finance, insurance, mail order, telecommunications and manufacturing.
