New Features Bring Wiki Simplicity To Document Management, Including Unlimited Storage For Business Customers

PBwiki, Inc., the world's leading provider of hosted collaboration solutions for businesses and education, recently announced the release of PBwiki Document Management, a major upgrade to the PBwiki collaboration suite. This new release allows organizations to use PBwiki as a fast and easy-to-use document management solution that's accessible to employees, vendors, partners, and customers, both inside and outside the firewall.

PBwiki Document Management allows teams to collaborate on documents with the same simplicity and flexibility PBwiki brings to wiki pages. In just hours or even minutes, customers can build and fill a document repository they can share inside or outside the firewall. "PBwiki Document Management is awesome," said Andy McMillan of Cherokee Nation Businesses, the business arm of the Cherokee Nation, which employs over 4,000 people and generates $100M in annual profits for the tribe. "It's an ideal solution for what we need."

Combining document management with wiki collaboration is a major step forward, according to Atle Skjekkeland, Vice President of the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM), the leading non-profit organization focused on helping users to understand the challenges associated with managing documents, content, records, and business processes. "Document management lets you find, control, and share files across your organization, and a wiki with document management capabilities will really improve the control of content accessible from users within and outside the firewall."

Features include:

  • Folders that allow users to organize and control access to documents and files
  • Ability to automatically capture, store, and organize file revisions
  • Cohesive new interface for managing both wiki pages and files
  • Ability to search within documents as well as wiki pages
  • Ability to easily upload multiple files at once

To go along with these new features, PBwiki has also dramatically increased the storage available. Free users now get 2 GB of storage, while paying business customers get unlimited storage -- a first in the industry.

"We're focused on boosting productivity by helping teams work together more efficiently and effectively. That's more important than ever in today's 'do more with less' economic environment," said PBwiki CEO Jim Groff. "Unlike traditional document management software, PBwiki's hosted solution enables team members to easily collaborate across geographic and organizational boundaries in a robust, secure environment -- without taxing already strained IT resources."
