Mimosa Reaches New Milestones With Industry's Most Comprehensive Content Archiving Platform Featuring Innovative Content Capture, Archive Virtualization And Proactive eDiscovery For Large-Scale Installations

Mimosa Systems, the leader in next-generation email and file archiving solutions, recently announced its largest enterprise deployment of 150,000 users - delivering the industry's most advanced content archiving, eDiscovery, archive virtualization and disaster recovery offering in a single, unified solution. The Mimosa NearPoint™ archive solution is the clear choice for hundreds of large enterprise customers worldwide and more than 75 global partners, including Microsoft, Dell, Hitachi Data Systems, NetApp and HP to improve Exchange efficiency, significantly reduce production storage and decrease the cost of eDiscovery collection and preservation by over 50 percent.

Leading analysts predict a major increase in compliance regulations, corporate governance mandates and eDiscovery requirements in 2009 due to challenging economic conditions across global markets. As a result, organizations need to address these challenges in rapid fashion with solutions that are designed for proactive eDiscovery and legal decision support, compliance readiness and management efficiencies to reduce risk and costs. According to a CMS Watch 2009 IT predictions report, "vendors whose offerings provide technologies to specifically support regulatory compliance and that have a strong track record of success in highly regulated industries stand to gain from the current economic crisis."

Recognized by Gartner as the fastest-growing company in Email Archiving and in the Visionaries Quadrant of its "Magic Quadrant for Active Email Archiving research, Mimosa is well positioned to address enterprise market requirements with the industry's most advanced email and file archiving solution. In 2008, Mimosa extended its global footprint by opening offices worldwide and strengthening its strategic partnerships to deepen market access. The company also released key new product options that capture more content types, provide controls to optimize storage resources, and streamline eDiscovery searches.

According to Laura DuBois, storage software research director for IDC, "Enterprise archiving software is now a one billion dollar market worldwide, growing 18.4 percent year over year. Overall market growth continues to be derived from the need for improved identification and retrieval of relevant information based on discovery, investigations, and user need. The use of archiving can also yield production performance gains, especially as organizations increase in size. Tiered storage efficiencies and limitless mailbox capacities streamline workflow by eliminating management intensive quotas and information overload on production servers."

Mimosa Escalates Global Enterprise Reach in 2008 Mimosa continues to experience strong growth in the enterprise with over 700 customers worldwide. The company increased its reach into key vertical industries including government, healthcare and energy - delivering huge efficiencies, significant cost savings, a rapid return on investment and time to value. Global expansion efforts in 2008 also resulted in active sales channels throughout the UK, Japan, China, Australia, Canada, and France in addition to Mimosa's strong channel partner ecosystem in the United States. To support its expanding customer base, Mimosa has also established a premier professional services organization and expanded its 24 x 7 worldwide support resulting in superior customer satisfaction across the globe.

Throughout 2008, Mimosa continued to enhance its strategic relationships with industry-leading technology partners and developers. With the release of its software development kit (SDK) in June 2008, Mimosa opened the door for customers, partners and developers to extend NearPoint's capabilities to a broader set of content sources, or allow the archive to be integrated with an upstream enterprise content management or eDiscovery application. To accompany the Mimosa SDK, the company launched the Mimosa Developer Network (MDN) to support the development of solutions from over 25 initial partner developers who want to extend their applications with archived content.

Rounding out the year, the company announced further enterprise capabilities with the addition of three new software options to the Mimosa NearPoint platform. These included File System Archiving (FSA), Tiered Storage Option (TSO) and the Retention Classification Option (RCO).

  • Mimosa NearPoint File System Archiving (FSA) enables users to retain, retrieve and recover critical, free-range files alongside millions of emails, attachments, instant messages, and content from backup tapes stored in an integrated content archive. Built on the award-winning Mimosa NearPoint platform, FSA provides Mimosa customers with the most advanced archive solution that addresses critical requirements for storage cost reduction with advanced single instance storage across files, email and attachments in the archive, end-user information access, eDiscovery, content monitoring, and file recovery in a single solution.
  • Mimosa NearPoint Tiered Storage Option (TSO) delivers policy-based disk to disk migrations to met business demands for end-user access, records management or eDiscovery across any number of storage devices with different cost and performance characteristics. NearPoint TSO allows organizations to reduce storage costs while supporting legal and compliance requirements for long term data retention and access.
  • Mimosa NearPoint Retention and Classification Option (RCO) classifies and tags any content coming into the archive based on business rules such as sender, receiver, phrases, keywords, numbers, attachment, files, or optionally, Outlook categories set by the end-user. RCO applies retention policies and tags to new content being archived, or existing content already in the archive without re-archiving the original content. RCO lowers storage costs by automating granular retention policies and expedites eDiscovery using tags to quickly locate relevant content.

"Mimosa has emerged as the industry leader in next-generation content archiving solutions which is growing exponentially despite the current economic crisis. Enterprises worldwide must harness and manage runaway email and information growth and address stringent eDiscovery and regulatory compliance mandates in an intuitive, cost-effective manner," said T.M. Ravi, CEO Mimosa Systems. "Mimosa has the strategic ingredients for continued success including a multi-billion dollar market opportunity, a unified archiving platform that leap-frogs traditional offerings, and the ability to execute on a global scale. Mimosa will continue to raise the technology bar in the coming year and deliver innovative products for today's largest enterprise organizations."
