MBF Australia Selects SunGard's EXP For Enterprise-Wide Document Management And Integrated Workflows

MBF, part of leading health insurer Bupa Australia, has selected SunGard's EXP solution for business process management and enterprise content management. MBF will use SunGard's EXP for end-to-end claims processing, document management and integrated workflows across sales and delivery channels in order to help achieve greater visibility and operational efficiency of business processes, higher quality of service and increased client satisfaction. Integrated with business process management capability from SunGard's Infinity Process Platform*, EXP will provide process modeling and simulation, operations monitoring and visibility across both multiple systems and departmental boundaries.

Michelle Cox, general manager, operations, at MBF, said, "With SunGard's EXP we will automate and minimize the movement of paper throughout the organization, helping us improve service levels and communication across the enterprise, reduce expense and risk exposure, and process more business with less effort and at a higher quality level. We chose SunGard's EXP for its many, readily-available core features and capabilities, intuitive user interface geared toward the user rather than IT or reliance on technical toolkits, and its ability to be implemented quickly."

SunGard's EXP will be used by more than 1,000 users in several MBF offices throughout Australia. MBF will use EXP's capabilities for document scanning and image storage, workflow, analytical reporting, and systems integration for automating and monitoring processes. SunGard's EXP provides the following imaging-based, automated capabilities from within the EXP system to help create an integrated, end-to-end workflow for claims processing and membership transactions:

  • Conversion of paper documents to electronic content for insertion directly in the workflow process
  • Data capture upon scanning using intelligent and optical character recognition, and optical mark reading
  • File-based document importing for back-scanning and document file migration
  • Generation of correspondence and delivery via e-mail and fax
  • Multi-dimensional analytical reports build around MBF's integrated workflow

"Automation, integration and workflow of paper-based processes is becoming increasingly important in helping organizations to improve the client experience while helping to facilitate a culture of continuous business process improvement," said Jason Ingram, president of SunGard's workflow and business processing solutions. "We are pleased that MBF will be leveraging SunGard's EXP to help provide individuals and healthcare providers with enhanced timeliness, quality and accuracy of claims processing."

* SunGard Financial Systems is pursuing a visionary initiative to transform some of the key functionality of its core systems into components to form a new software development and on-demand delivery environment called Infinity. Infinity enables insurance and financial institutions to develop and deploy custom applications, integrating SunGard components with their own proprietary or third party components. Infinity uses SunGard's Common Services Architecture (CSA), a service-oriented architecture (SOA) development framework, offering business process management (BPM) and a virtualized, software-as-a-service (SaaS) infrastructure.
