Genesis Imaging's GI CaptureStation Uses KODAK Scan Station 520EX To Help Businesses Export Information To ONBASE

Genesis Imaging, a Kodak Authorized Imaging Reseller, introduces the GI CaptureStation, a single capture platform designed to capture and release information into ONBASE, an enterprise content management (ECM) software suite from Hyland Software. The GI CaptureStation integrates Genesis Imaging Software with the KODAK Scan Station 520EX networked document scanner to provide end users with a simple, yet powerful solution for converting paper documents into images and metadata for use in ONBASE.

Hyland's integrated ECM product serves clients in numerous fields including finance, healthcare, government, insurance, higher education and commercial business. The open software architecture, which requires minimal user training, enables everyday users to easily share information across offices and better automate processes in areas like accounts payable, claims processing and other auditing cycles. Hyland customizes its software platform based on the specific business need to attain greater efficiency, such as email modules for legal e-discovery, records management suited for government, enterprise software data integration, storage management, and others.

"The Scan Station 520EX provides customers with a single device that enables users to scan, index and attach files from any number of remote locations," said Mark Buckley, General Manager, Genesis Imaging. "This solution demonstrates how Genesis helps our customers gain the greatest possible efficiency from their paper-based business processes."

The GI CaptureStation, powered by the Scan Station 520EX, enables businesses to provide their office environments with a document capture system, without the need for a dedicated PC workstation. From its touchscreen interface, users can select the KODAK Software or the GI CaptureStation with a single touch and quickly choose document types to scan and keywords associated with the document types presented for indexing. Once documents have been captured, a ‘scan-to-ONBASE' button is available to instantly transfer and index documents within the ONBASE content management system.

ONBASE integrates scanned information within existing business applications to help reduce errors and manual processes. Hyland's content management application requires minimal custom coding to help lower installation and setup costs. Its flexible customization enables organizations to quickly expand capabilities to meet the various needs of different departments across an organization.

"Some configurations for ONBASE require setup, installation and training for multiple entry points into the content management system, which can come at a cost," said Brian Bagan, Director, Business Development, United States & Canada, Document Imaging, Kodak's Business Solutions and Services Group. "The Scan Station 520EX, combined with Genesis Imaging's capture software, provides users with a fully-integrated capture application for ONBASE that is easy to install, setup and use."

The Scan Station 520EX simplifies document imaging through shortened cycle times and improved information accuracy. The networked scanner provides exceptional paper handling with a 75-sheet document feeder, a daily duty cycle of 1,500 scans. Kodak's exclusive Perfect Page Image Processing Technology delivers image enhancement that improves the integrity and accuracy of information captured from paper documents. Multiple output options also enable users to send scanned images to network drives, FTP sites, printers, email, fax and portable USB drives.
