A2iA DocumentReader recognized for delivering robust customer value and measurable benefits to its users worldwide.

A2iA, a leading provider of tools for document analysis and handwritten data extraction, announced today its software, A2iA DocumentReader™, a document classification and data extraction API, was named a Trend-Setting Product of the Year by KMWorld magazine. This prestigious award is published annually in the September issue, and recognizes those products that deliver recognizable value and measurable benefits to their users.

"The 2008 list was compiled through briefings with vendors themselves, along with conversations with analysts, users and system integrators," said Hugh McKellar, KMWorld Editor-in-Chief. "Our mission selecting this year's products has been deceptively simple: select those that deliver robust customer value."

A2iA DocumentReader's revolutionary technology is an automated data capture and keyword-spotting software for structured and unstructured documents. It allows for classification and customized developments for the extraction of the contents in large volumes of handwritten letters and semi-structured fields. Utilizing A2iA's proprietary artificial intelligence and advanced neural networks to understand how documents are used and what role they play, A2iA DocumentReader provides for powerful information gathering for paper-intensive businesses.

"A2iA DocumentReader is a set of tools designed to handle any type of document, whether the document is drafted by hand and whose structure does not conform to any predetermined model, or a machine printed form," said Dr. Olivier Baret, A2iA General Manager and Senior Vice President, Research and Development. "We are proud to receive this award from KMWorld, further demonstrating our technology's capabilities and A2iA as a recognized leader in the unstructured document processing space."

Classification and Extraction of all Types of Paper Documents
A2iA DocumentReader performs a literal transcription of the handwritten and/or typed areas of documents, and extracts and recognizes paragraphs or keywords. The software then uses new techniques to analyze a group of documents together, such as the contents of an envelope or folder. By evaluating the accompanying documents to gain a holistic view of the entire package, A2iA DocumentReader is able to determine the documents' classification or "category" (letter, identity paper, contract, etc.) based on the geometry and content. This holistic approach helps to ensure that each document is classified accurately, as its purpose is recognized with regard to the entire package. Because of this process, A2iA DocumentReader is able to identify missing, required documentation for a transaction, make more efficient decisions on the information that should be indexed, and know what data should be extracted from handwritten and machine-printed pages.

A2iA DocumentReader has successfully been deployed worldwide, providing the ability to access cursive handwritten information, previously unreachable by traditional forms processing and records management applications. These continued successes validate A2iA DocumentReader's powerful capabilities, reinforcing it as a leading document classification and data extraction engine, and A2iA as a recognized leader in the document classification space.
