Vattenfall Hydro Discovers New Efficiencies In Condition-Based Maintenance

Representing over 50 percent of energy production in Sweden, hydro power is the backbone of Sweden’s energy system. With about 520 employees Vattenfall Hydro Power is the third largest hydro power provider in Europe. The utility manages 55 large-scale power plants and about 50 smaller-scale plants in Sweden and Finland with an annual production of 30-35 TWh and a capacity of about 8.300 MW. “We’ve been operating hydropower units for over 100 years,” noted Maintenance Development Engineer Magnus Holmbom in a presentation at OSIsoft’s 2015 EMEA Users’ Conference.
