Port Tampa Bay Selects The M-Files Enterprise Information Management Solution

Largest Port in Florida Selects M-Files to Replace OpenText

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) - M-Files Corporation, a provider of solutions that dramatically improve how businesses manage documents and other information, today announced that Port Tampa Bay, the largest port in Florida, has selected M-Files as their enterprise information management solution.

Port Tampa Bay handled more than 36 million tons of cargo in 2014, which equated to nearly one-third of all cargo that moved in and out of the state of Florida. The Port of Tampa Bay has also emerged among the top eight U.S. cruise ports, handling nearly 900,000 passenger moves a year.

The Port of Tampa Bay had been using the OpenText eDOCS enterprise content management (ECM) system, but the organization was looking for a solution that was more flexible, scalable and easier to configure to meet their specific and demanding information management requirements. For these reasons, the Port Tampa Bay made the choice to replace OpenText with M-Files.

"Port Tampa Bay is a large organization with complex and demanding information management needs across many departments," said Wade Barnes, Director of Information Technology at the Tampa Port Authority. "We need a scalable and secure solution that is flexible enough for us to configure to meet the specific needs of our legal, HR, engineering, procurement and executive management teams, and M-Files is that solution. The deployment was smooth, making it a very easy transition from our prior ECM solution to M-Files."

"We're winning customers and market share over 'old school' ECM vendors because organizations like Port Tampa Bay see that M-Files places the power and control of the ECM system in the hands of the business user, reducing the demands on IT," said Greg Milliken, vice president of marketing at M-Files Corporation. "The ECM market has changed; having a long 'feature' list is no longer enough. Simplicity, user adoption and flexibility are all key to success in today's competitive environment -- along with the ability to handle complex business needs. It's the blend of these two where M-Files leads the market."
