3D Systems, one of the leading 3D printing companies in the world announced that Intermountain 3D – an Idaho, USA based 3D printing service bureau has grown its service offering and business by adding a new Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D printer from 3D Systems.

Since 2014, Intermountain has been a reseller of 3D Systems’ printing and scanning products and has also been using 3D systems’ 3D printers to offer prototyping and production services. However, with the inclusion of the new SLS 3D printer from 3D Systems, Intermountain 3D will now offer prototyping to low-volume production applications, reverse engineering and scan-based design to help its customers improve productivity and reduce overall time-to-market.
Offering details about the expansion, Lynn Hoffmann, Chief Executive Officer at Intermountain 3D said, “As we collaborated with our customers on their prototyping needs, we began to see more and more requests come in that went beyond just prototyping. The printers are complemented by a portfolio of DuraForm®production-grade nylon materials that have been optimized, validated and tested to ensure quality, with uniform 3D mechanical properties.
The combination of 3D Systems’ ProX SLS printers and DuraForm materials enables Intermountain 3D to produce tough, durable parts more efficiently with an overall lower total cost of operation.
Intermountain 3D offers its prototyping services to a range of customers that operate in different industries such as human prosthetics, food processing equipment and others. All these customers have unique requirements and need specific materials which make it difficult to manufacture products using traditional manufacturing methods. As a result, to meet these unique requirements, Intermountain 3D augmented their in-house capabilities by outsourcing some parts to 3D Systems’ On Demand Manufacturing.
