Disaster Recovery Selection 'complicated'
UK businesses should ensure they choose their disaster recovery systems carefully, it has been claimed.
According to Andrea Skov, chief marketing officer of IT services provider Teneros, companies should be wary of generic solutions, such as disk replication or virtual machine failover, which are not designed to be MS Exchange specific.
She added: "Seek out turnkey, application-aware solutions that offer the requisite mix of simple installation, ease of use, no ongoing maintenance burden, advanced availability features, and worry-free reliability."
Ms Skov went on to say email system downtime tends to result in lost revenue opportunities, missed contractual obligations, and reduced employee productivity.
Earlier this week, PublicTechnology.net reported a new disaster recovery system will be put in place by the London School of Economics.
The institution claimed it is now leading its peers by adopting an outsourced and multi-location approach to data recovery and e-mail availability, according to the news provider.
