AWWA Adds Wastewater Questions To Popular Operator Exam Prep App

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) recently added two sets of wastewater questions to its popular AWWA Exam Prep app. The app is designed to make the learning process both engaging and portable for those studying to become water operators.

Each set consists of more than 250 questions evaluated by industry experts, spanning operator license grades 1-4, and costs $25. One set is about wastewater treatment and the other pertains to wastewater collections.

AWWA Exam Prep users can conveniently study using the app, which includes sample questions aligned with the latest Need-to-Know Criteria of the Association of Boards of Certification.

“The consistent practice of using these prep questions not only appropriately prepares an operator to be successful in passing their exam, they can also enhance their awareness of how to efficiently manage their wastewater collection systems,” said Ken Morgan, P.E., one author of the app questions.

“The Exam App was designed to help operator trainees and operators to prepare for their next level certification exam,” said David L. Russell, P.E., another author of the app questions. “The questions were prepared after examination of many state operator’s licensing exam questions for all levels of operators and they reflect the broad range of subject materials which the operator will need to understand in order to operate and manage a modern wastewater treatment plant. The questions include topics on wastewater treatment theory, microbiology, anaerobic digestion, sludge management, process operations, biological growth kinetics and nutrient removal.”

The app is optimized for iOS (Apple) and Android and accessible on desktop, tablet and smartphone. It comes with a complimentary bundle of 20 questions, with additional bundles of 250-plus questions available by subject and grade:

  • Water Treatment, Introductory (grades 1 and 2)
  • Water Treatment, Advanced (grades 3 and 4)
  • Water Distribution, Introductory (grades 1 and 2)
  • Water Distribution, Advanced (grades 3 and 4)
