A2iA, the worldwide leading developer of handwritten and machine printed text recognition, information extraction and intelligent classification of paper documents, announced recently that it ranked first among corporations, and second among all participants, at ICDAR 2009. ICDAR, International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition, is the leading international scientific event in the field of document processing and image analysis. Held every two years, it brings together researchers, university laboratories and businesses.
Hosted in Barcelona, Spain, in July, A2iA participated in the Arabic and French handwriting recognition competitions. Participants were asked to submit the results obtained from their automated recognition system from images of handwritten words.
"We are very proud of our researchers," said Jean-Louis Fages, A2iA President and Chairman of the Board. "They are among the world's best in their field and demonstrate, once again, the ability of our research center to address the most complex handwriting recognition and document processing cases." Research remains at the core of A2iA's developments, as the company has always relied on R&D to strengthen its technological lead. Today A2iA operates one of the world's largest private research centers specialized in cursive handwriting recognition. It employs 13 PhDs and 7 engineers, whose projects are adapted for A2iA's proprietary recognition toolkits. This approach allows A2iA to continuously improve the performance of its software to meet the needs of today's users.
A2iA's proprietary toolkits have successfully been deployed worldwide and are used by thousands of end-users.
A2iA DocumentReader and A2iA FieldReader are available to software developers and integrators for incorporation into various business process management, content management, knowledge management, document capture, e-discovery, workflow and OCR/ICR applications.
A2iA CheckReader is available to software developers for integration into front- and back-end bank operations software, image-enabled ATMs for check acceptance, branch or distributed capture, remittance, check cashing, accounting, online banking, point-of-sale document management, and proof operations.
A2iA, Artificial Intelligence and Image Analysis, is a software company that operates one of the world's largest research centers focusing on ways to extract information from everyday paper documents that contain handwritten information. A2iA's Document Classification, OCR, ICR and IWR technologies have been reducing data-entry costs and improving business process automation for nearly 20 years. A2iA recognition engines are used to enhance the forms-processing, transaction-processing, content management, document management, and knowledge management systems from leading vendors.
