A2iA Provides Access To Millions Of France's Military Records
A2iA has been selected as part of a complete solution that will provide access to millions of France's military records. Within the Ministry of the Defense, the Direction of the National Service (DSN), the department that manages French citizens' military duty, currently maintains and administers 29 million files of individual records, which must be retained by the head office of military records (BCAAM) in Pau, France, through the end of 2012. In order to respond to increasing requests from citizens, the DSN must modernize its current Electronic Document Management (EDM) System.
This new system, designed by EURIWARE, incorporates A2iA's recognition technology and is capable of automatically handling the 1000 to 1200 letters received every day (requests for military service certificates, copies of administrative documents, diplomas, citations, etc.). This system will also accelerate the digitization of documents maintained by the BCAAM.
With this project, EURIWARE is committing to design the technical architecture, draft the specifications, and then to perform the installation, integration and configuration of the EDM application. This solution will utilize technologies designed by French developers: SESIN for the EDM (Poséidon) and workflow (Hermés) applications, and A2iA for the handwriting character recognition engine (A2iAFieldReader). EURIWARE will also supervise all of the project management, including the maintenance phases.
The project started in early March 2008 and the new version of the application will be operational at the BCAAM in January 2009.
