Where Are They Now? Food For The Poor

Source: OPEX Corporation

It’s been seven years since ECM Connection (then Integrated Solutions magazine) last spoke with Vickie Torregrossa, Director of Information Systems for Food For The Poor. Back in 2006, Torregrossa and her team had implemented a document imaging and remittance processing system that allowed the international organization to create digital images of donation checks and digitally transmit them to its bank. The system, which relied on the OPEX AS3690i scanning platform — integrating an envelope feeder, mail extraction desk, and scanner — and Fairfax Imaging software, was used to handle 125,000 to 150,000 check donations received each month. Shortly thereafter, the charity added two more scanners to accommodate the high volume of incoming donations.

After years of reliable performance, time and advancements in technology began catching up with the AS3690i scanners so Torregrossa started researching a replacement plan. Coincidentally, she says, her main contact at OPEX reached out to see if she was interested in seeing the company’s new scanner line — The Falcon.
