Hood River County and Wasco County in Oregon have started e-recording with Simplifile, enabling faster, more cost-effective recording for customers online.

Hood River County, OR (PRWEB) - Oregon has expanded electronic recording (e-recording) of land documents and records in two additional counties, Hood River and Wasco, through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing a faster, more cost-effective recording option for customers.

“We decided to start e-recording to provide alternative methods for customers to record documents, and to save staff time in the process,” said Hood River County Assessor-Clerk Brian D. Beebe. “The customers can record documents quicker and more conveniently. We save in the time it takes to open, scan, print and attach labels, and mail documents back.”

Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers such as title companies, banks, attorneys, and lien filers, will have the ability to scan or upload and submit documents directly to the clerk’s office and have them stamped, recorded, and returned in minutes.

“Our experience with Simplifile has been amazing. I wish we would have started this years ago,” Beebe said.

Recording fees can be processed electronically through Simplifile’s secure service via Automated Clearing House or electronic funds transfer, eliminating check-writing expenses.

"Wasco County is pleased to join the ranks of Oregon counties that offer e-recording. E-recording solutions have been successfully used in large and small jurisdictions for over a decade now and have become the standard for a growing number of lenders, attorneys and title companies nationwide. The greatly reduced turnaround time is a welcome service to our customers," said Wasco County Chief Deputy David McGaughey. "We anticipate a steady increase in e-recordings over time leading to an estimated savings of 15 percent in staff time with additional savings in reduced postage costs."

Fewer payment errors, stamps, and mailing expenses are also some of the benefits that come with e-recording.

With the addition of e-recording in Hood River and Wasco counties, there are now 19 counties in Oregon that have adopted e-recording with Simplifile. Nationwide, more than 1,250 counties also e-record with Simplifile.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
