New Britain Town And City Clerk Begins E-Recording With Simplifile

New Britain, CT (PRWEB) - The City of New Britain is now accepting electronic documents for recording through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing document submitters with a faster, more cost-effective recording method online.

“Electronic processing is immediate and virtually error free. Documents are processed efficiently and errors can be detected and corrected same day. E-recording also eliminates postage costs and mail delivery delays,” said New Britain Town and City Clerk Mark H. Bernacki.

According to the clerk’s office, Bernacki has made a concerted effort to bring the office into the 21st century.

Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers ranging from title companies to banks, attorneys, and lien filers, have the ability to scan or upload and submit documents directly to the clerk’s office where they are reviewed, stamped, recorded, and returned electronically in minutes.

“The major goal for e-recording is having another channel of document submission to the New Britain Town Clerk’s Office. Ideally, the majority of recordings will occur electronically,” Bernacki added.

Customers also have the ability to track and view the status of their documents that have been submitted through Simplifile, making it easier and more cost effective to correct and resubmit any rejected documents. If an electronic document is rejected for any reason, customers are notified immediately through Simplifile, giving them the ability to quickly correct and resubmit the document back to the clerk’s office.

Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile, helping to reduce payment errors.

According to Bernacki, the clerk’s office is currently accepting all documents except those that require Connecticut conveyance taxes.

“The Connecticut Town Clerks Association is working with the state to accept these additional documents. Once approved, all land recording documents could be processed via e-recording,” he said.

New Britain is the 38th recording jurisdiction in the state of Connecticut to make Simplifile’s e-recording service available to customers, joining more than 1,300 counties nationwide that also e-record with Simplifile.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
