Converse County, Wyo., Implements Simplifile E-Recording Technology

Wyoming has added its third e-recording county, Converse County, enabling document recording customers to submit documents online through Simplifile’s e-recording service to the clerk and recorder’s office.

Converse County WY (PRWEB) - Electronic recording (e-recording) in Converse County, Wyo., is now available through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider, enabling document recording customers to submit land records and other document types to the clerk and recorder’s office online.

Instead of having to mail documents or physically take them to the county for recording, submitters such as title companies, banks, and attorneys will have the option to scan or upload the documents electronically through Simplifile’s secure, web-based service and have them submitted, recorded, and returned from the county in minutes.

According to Converse County Clerk and Recorder Lucile Taylor, the county initially became interested in e-recording last spring due to the sheer volume of documents submitted for recording.

“Because so many of the documents could be rejected for a variety of reasons, I needed a better way to coordinate with the submitter the reason(s) for documents being rejected without having to spend time on the phone with the customer or by returning documents to the submitter,” Taylor said. “In light of those concerns, Converse County worked with Simplifile and our recording program vendor to install the program. Simplifile has allowed Converse County to immediately accept electronic filings of documents and, in turn, gives my staff the opportunity to let the submitter know of any concerns. In addition, the documents are returned electronically, thereby saving time and related costs. For my staff, e-recording will cut down on the amount of time processing documents as many of the required fields have already been completed by the vendor.”

Increased document security and fewer check-writing expenses are also some of the benefits of e-recording, as recording fees and payments can be processed securely through Simplifile via electronic funds transfer.

“I hope that e-recordings will exceed 50 percent of the volume of documents submitted by the end of 2015,” Taylor said. “In addition, I expect this technology to help us with future advances in the recording industry.”

Converse County is the third county in Wyoming to adopt Simplifile’s e-recording service and joins more than 1,170 recording jurisdictions e-recording nationwide.
