Brown County, Kan., Adopts E-Recording With Simplifile

The register of deeds’ office in Brown County, Kan., has implemented e-recording through Simplifile for document recording customers.

Brown County, KS (PRWEB) - Document recording customers in Brown County, Kan., can now record their documents electronically with the register of deeds’ office through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider, making it possible to have land records and other time-sensitive documents recorded in minutes.

“We decided to start e-recording to make it simpler for people to file documents,” said Brown County Register of Deeds Nellie Brockhoff. “Hopefully, it will speed the process up for the public and my office.”

Instead of having to mail documents or physically take them to the register of deeds’ office for recording, organizations such as title companies, banks, and attorneys now have the option to scan or upload their documents electronically through Simplifile’s secure, web-based service.

Additionally, if a document is rejected for any reason, the county is able to quickly send it back to the customer for correction through Simplifile, making it a faster and more convenient process than returning documents by mail.

“What often used to take several days or weeks can now happen in minutes through e-recording,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “We’re excited to have Brown County join our e-recording network and help them implement this easy-to-use, cost-effective technology for their customers.”

Brown County joins 34 other Kansas e-recording counties that have made Simplifile’s service available to their customers.

“It’s been a wonderful experience with Simplifile,” Brockhoff added. “They are making it easy to work with the documents. I’m so anxious to get started and have the experience under my belt.”

Increased document security and fewer check-writing expenses are also some of the benefits of e-recording, as payments and recording fees can be processed securely through Simplifile via Automated Clearing House.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
