SharePoint Scalability Zen: Part 1

Search the Web today, and you'll find hundreds of articles touting the potential of SharePoint as an ECM Platform, so I'm going to skip the temptation of writing yet another one and cut to the chase. Like many of you, I'm an ECM industry veteran — 18 years in the large-scale solutions sector. Rewind to late 2004. When I first heard of the prospects and promises of SharePoint being a viable mission-critical ECM alternative at a fraction of the price, I looked at it with a hairy eyeball like everyone else in the business (I mean, come on … really?).
