HiSoftware, a leading provider of software, services and managed operation solutions that monitor and optimize Web marketing analysis, content governance and regulatory compliance, recently announced the general availability of the Accessibility Kit for SharePoint (AKS) v1.1 at the Microsoft Office SharePoint Conference 2008 in Seattle, Washington. This latest update to the AKS provides increased levels of accessibility across the collaborative environment. It includes 21 new control adapters for the Blogs and Wikis that have been developed to enhance the accessibility of the Web parts and individual controls within Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Additionally, HiSoftware announced the release of Compliance Sheriff for SharePoint. HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff for SharePoint enables users to create accessible Web content in SharePoint Server 2007 prior to publishing through an integrated workflow testing process. The software provides organizations with an easy, cost-effective way to successfully develop and maintain SharePoint Server 2007 sites that promote the highest standards of accessibility and general Web governance, promoting a higher quality user experience.

Lawrence Liu, Senior Technical Product Manager for SharePoint at Microsoft states, "AKS 1.1 shows Microsoft's continued commitment towards providing building blocks in the form of usable code and technical documentation to improve accessibility for SharePoint Server 2007. By partnering with HiSoftware and leveraging their end-to-end accessibility solution for SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft is able to deliver SharePoint based solutions that meet our customers' governance demands and accessibility requirements."

The AKS solution represents a set of files, programs and utilities that facilitate the enhanced accessible and usable output of SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. AKS v1.1 provides new cascading style sheets (CSS), master pages, multiple control adapters and reusable content examples through "best practices". AKS is part of the Microsoft Public license and can be downloaded at no charge through www.aks.hisoftware.com.

HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff for SharePoint provides content testing and reporting options for standards-based accessibility policies outlined by WCAG 1.0 and Section 508. The solution allows users to automatically repair issues before deploying into live SharePoint Server 2007 sites. HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff for SharePoint is extensible. Options are available to easily validate content against standards-based policies for additional Web governance issues including privacy, market site-quality, including the identification of inappropriate words and spell check, and customized standards.

Kurt A. Mueffelmann, HiSoftware President and CEO states, "We are pleased to release AKS v1.1 and Compliance Sheriff for SharePoint.

Accessibility is becoming not only a compliance requirement, but is quickly becoming part of best business practices for creating greater market opportunity across the globe. By creating an end-to-end accessibility and Web governance solution that is integrated into SharePoint Server 2007's workflow, AKS 1.1 and HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff for SharePoint provides organizations that ability to comply with today's accessibility and compliance standards as well as the ability to validate and test content prior to publishing. HiSoftware is able to further expand SharePoint Server 2007's market dominance by allowing it to more easily meet Web governance standards for accessibility and general compliance across the globe, thus opening new market opportunities."
