Addition to Ascent Platform Simplifies Development and Implementation of Information Capture Solutions

Quick, Easy-to-Deploy and Configure, and Well-suited for Invoice Processing

Kofax, the world's largest information capture vendor, today announced the availability of Ascent® Xtrata Pro, a quick and easy-to-deploy solution that works in tandem with Ascent Capture to classify and extract data from any document type. With the introduction of Ascent Xtrata Pro, the development and deployment of information capture applications are greatly simplified. The new product is able to manage structured and unstructured content from any type of document, transforming unpredictably-formatted content into actionable information.

By hiding complex technology behind intuitive and easy-to-use graphical user interfaces on Ascent Xtrata Pro, solutions can be developed by simply pointing and clicking a mouse. Further, Kofax's learn-by-example extraction technology is leveraged by Ascent Xtrata Pro to minimize the need for scripting, templating or rules construction to further simplify set-up and operation.

Prompted by customer demand, Ascent Xtrata Pro enhances the Ascent Platform by providing an ideal solution for information capture applications of low-to-medium complexity where ease of deployment and configuration, and low maintenance costs are key requirements.

"The release of Ascent Xtrata Pro further demonstrates our commitment to bring the most effective information capture solutions to every market segment," said Rob Klatell, chief executive officer of Kofax's parent company, DICOM Group. "Our ability to innovate is evidenced by Ascent Xtrata Pro where we have taken complex, very robust technology and packaged it in a way that enables our partners to service new tiers of the market and allows our customers to more effectively create and handle information capture applications."

Designed With the User in Mind
Intuitive graphical user interfaces (GUIs) and simple drag-and-drop and point-and-click operations make task configuration quick and easy. Wizards are also provided to further speed the building of projects. Both image and content classification can be managed by Ascent Xtrata Pro. This means users can classify fixed layout documents (forms) and variable layout/content- rich documents (correspondence).

Global Organizations Leverage Power of Ascent Xtrata Pro for Invoice Processing
Early adopters of Ascent Xtrata Pro include E.ON Westfalen Weser AG, one of Germany's largest utilities, which supplies 740,000 customers with electricity, natural gas and water. Ascent Xtrata Pro was installed as part of an information capture system designed to speed the processing of more than 800 customer letters and 400 invoices that E.ON Westfalen Weser employees handle daily. In addition, the Carrefour Group, Europe's largest retailer and the world's second largest retailer, uses Ascent Xtrata Pro to process tens of millions of invoices that the company receives each year from its suppliers. Kofax will bring further value and appeal to Ascent Xtrata Pro by offering pre-packaged application-specific solutions, the first of which will be for invoice processing. Ascent Xtrata Pro is available as an add-on to the Ascent Platform.
