Alogent's goal is to ensure clients that their images have been properly captured and meet the bank's standards for quality. In order to do so, the company must be able to accurately test for image quality, including whether the image is too light or dark, as well as if it is skewed, streaked or has bands running through it.

Alogent decided to upgrade Sierra Xchange and Sierra Xpedite by embedding BancTec's Image Sentry into these solutions. Image Sentry would provide a fully-automated tool to measure and analyze images across all four image analysis categories in both products, running separately or integrated in operations centers for Straight Through Check Processing. Image Sentry would ensure that rapid, high-quality paper-to-electronic images were consistently produced at points of first presentment.

As an integral part of Alogent's Sierra® products, Image Sentry allows Alogent clients to assess, verify, correct and manage paper-to-electronic images in distributed capture environments. Since it was designed for optimal performance of daily check imaging operations, Image Sentry gives the Sierra products the ability to automatically measure and guard against 'untransactable' images. It ensures that images sent to other financial institutions meet the quality requirements of the exchanging parties or images received from a financial institution are acceptable to archive for customer access.
